Bridges
Dental bridge is a fixed (cemented onto your teeth and doesn’t have to be removed at night or for cleaning after every meal) option of replacing missing teeth.
Bridge is cemented to the natural teeth around a gap and these neighboring teeth (known as abutments) serve as anchors for the bridge. A replacement tooth is attached to the crown of the abutment and secured in place, filling the gap.
A bridge can also be made over implants. Modern bridges are made of porcelain or ceramic and look very natural.
In areas of the mouth that are under less stress, such as your front teeth, a cantilever bridge may be used. Cantilever bridges are used when there are teeth on only one side of the open space.
Bridges can reduce your risk of gum disease in comparison to dentures, help correct some bite issues and don’t affect your speech.
Bridges require your commitment to serious oral hygiene and require regular checks and maintenance but will last at least ten years or more if looked after well.

A denture is a special appliance worn over the gums to replace missing natural teeth.
Usually removable, dentures are made from tooth-coloured materials that are bonded to an acrylic or chrome base. There are lots of benefits to dentures, they restore the appearance of your smile, improve your chewing ability and your speech and also restore support to your facial muscles.
The type of denture you will require depends on how many teeth are missing.

Complete denture (a full set) replaces all your upper or lower natural teeth

Partial dentures replace one or a few teeth and are held in place by metal or plastic clasps
Removable dentures are sometimes called removable bridges and it can take few weeks to get used to dentures especially if it’s the first set.
Just like your natural teeth, it is important to keep your denture clean and in good condition. Keeping your mouth clean and brushing morning and evening is very important to prevent dental disease.
